Desk News: A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 struck El Salvador on Wednesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The tremor was also felt in a neighboring country in Central America.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Pacific Ocean, approximately 60 kilometers (37 miles) south-southwest of the Salvadoran city of La Libertad, at a depth of 33.9 kilometers below the Earth’s surface.
As of now, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or damage resulting from the earthquake. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) also confirmed the magnitude of the earthquake at 6.1.
