Desk News: Khaled Mahmud Sujon has resigned from his position as a Director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). He submitted his resignation today, Wednesday, September 11, according to a BCB director who confirmed the news to Dhaka Post.
Sujon had been serving the BCB in various key roles for a long time, most recently as the Chairman of the Game Development Committee. He was also the Vice President of the Cricket Operations Committee.
During his tenure as a BCB director, Sujon worked closely with the national team, taking on roles such as Team Director, Interim Coach, and Team Manager at different times. Additionally, Sujon has had a significant presence in domestic cricket, serving as the head coach of Abahani Limited and coaching in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Sujon’s resignation comes amid a wave of changes across various sectors in the country, including within the BCB’s board of directors. Prior to Sujon, other influential directors, such as Jalal Yunus, Ahmed Sajjadul Alam Bobby, Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, and Naimur Rahman Durjoy, also stepped down from their positions.
Meanwhile, although Nazmul Hasan Papon has stepped down from his role as BCB President, he remains a director on the board. Following the departure of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from the country, Papon went into hiding. Former national team captain Faruk Ahmed has since taken over as the new BCB President.
