Desk News: In a significant development in the Shah A. M. S. Kibria murder case, former State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar has been granted bail. The decision was made today by Judge Swapan Kumar Sarker of the Sylhet Speedy Trial Tribunal.
During the court proceedings, Ariful Haque Chowdhury appeared, but Babar was not present in court as he remains imprisoned in Dhaka. Following this, the court granted bail to Babar.
The case relates to the tragic grenade attack that occurred on January 27, 2005, in Baidyer Bazar, Habiganj, during a public meeting where former Finance Minister Shah A. M. S. Kibria was killed. The attack led to charges against several BNP leaders, including Babar and Ariful Haque Chowdhury, the former mayor of Sylhet.
