Desk News: An Indian woman was arrested by police in Sylhet on Sunday night, carrying a significant quantity of alcohol. The woman, identified as Banani Das, 51, was apprehended near the Green Line bus counter in Humayun Rashid Square, South Surma.

Banani Das, a resident of Panihati Arshibad area in North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, is the wife of Basudev Das. Authorities recovered 10 bottles of Indian-made alcohol from her possession.

The Sylhet Metropolitan Police have filed two separate cases against Banani Das at the South Surma Police Station. Following her arrest, she was presented before the court, according to Mohammad Saiful Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner and media officer of Sylhet Metropolitan Police.

Further details regarding the investigation and charges are expected to emerge as the case progresses.
